This design was created at the request of the commander of an activity being held by the Civil Air Patrol as the main brand image.
The 2 smaller designs are the wing (state) logos for South and North Dakota CAP wings. Being the 25th year of the encampment it was desired to add a ribbon at the top commemorating it, also 2017 was the 75th anniversary of the Civil Air Patrol cadet program and it was desired to also pay tribute to the many years of service cadets have provided. A full color version in Blue, White, Gold, Red, and Black was made, as was a “Subdued” version to resemble the patches worn by the US Air Force. The Latin words at a diagonal “A Posse Ad Esse” meaning “From Possibility to Actuality” was chosen as the year’s motto by the cadet staff of the event.
